The I’m a Celebrity pop-up was an early commission from Foxtel’s UKTV Channel to help promote the launch of the I’m a Celebrity franchise onto Australian screens.
Brief: Design and engineer a promotional pop-up card of the I’m a Celebrity Season 6 cast surrounded by lush, interactive paper jungle.
Story: Because UKTV wanted to make splash with their new hit show, using the medium of pop-up up was a fun and effective way to make an entrance. Working alongside Melissa from Caper Creative, this project was the very first pop-up design that a young Studio Paperform had professionally produced (fabrication of knives/punched shapes). The final manufactured pieces were hand assembled. As the pop-up spread opens, our poor unsuspecting celebs are harried by moving paper creepy crawlies including a hanging snake and jumping spider.
At this time, there was renewed global interest in the use of paper engineering – in particular pop-ups – as a unique facet of modern graphic design’s burgeoning ‘tangible’ obsession.
Our I’m a Celebrity pop-up collaboration went on to win the international Promax BDA Design Award in the World Gold-Silver 2D Press Kit category.
